Finding your Skin Type

A quick guide to figuring out what your skin is trying to tell you.

Good news, figuring out your skin type is actually pretty simple.

First: The Bare Face Test

  1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser
  2. Don’t apply any products afterwards
  3. Wait about an hour
  4. See how your skin feels

Now compare your results:

Dry Skin

Your skin feels tight, flaky, or thirsty by the end of the hour.

You probably need:

  • Rich hydration
  • Nourishing moisturisers
  • Gentle skincare that protects your skin barrier

Oily Skin

Your face gets shiny quickly in your forehead, nose, and chin regions.

You probably need:

  • Lightweight hydration
  • Balancing skincare
  • Products that don’t strip your skin

Fun fact: oily skin still needs moisture.

Combination Skin

Oily in some places, dry in others? Welcome to the combo club.

Usually:

  • Oily T-zone
  • Normal or dry cheeks

Your skin likes balance, not anything too heavy or too harsh.

Sensitive Skin

If your skin gets red, itchy, stingy, or reacts easily to products, you may have sensitive skin.

Your best friend:

  • Gentle ingredients
  • Simple routines
  • Consistency

Normal Skin

Not too oily, not too dry, not overly reactive.

Basically the “everything feels fine” skin type.

Lucky you, but your skin still needs hydration and protection too.

Your skin type can change with:

  • Seasons
  • Hormones
  • Stress
  • Age
  • Weather
  • Overdoing skincare

So if your skin suddenly changes, you’re not imagining it.

At Pure Source we believe skincare should feel simple, effective, and made to work with your skin.
